As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, we at Cryostar® wanted to talk to the inspiring female business owner, Zoe from Aesthetics By Zoe based in Maidstone, Kent to find out what drives her and how she U-turned and changed her entire career through the pandemic.

Question’s | From Zoe |
As a leading woman in business what are your top tips to any budding entrepreneurs thinking of starting their own company? | My first bit of advice is go for it! Believe In yourself and never give up. Be honest with yourself, what are your strengths and weaknesses and learn to overcome them. On a practical level I would say do your research before you start out and create a business plan. It’s important to have an understanding of your overheads and keep them as low as possible whilst you’re starting up. My last piece of advice is, you are the face of your business. Make sure you show people what an amazing person you are. |
You have changed your career totally in the last 5 years, what was your driving force to make this leap? | I have always enjoyed supporting others and enjoy making others feel good about themselves. I spent many years looking after people with ill health and learnt a lot about mental health and the effects of unhealthy lifestyles. I made the decision that I wanted to help people feel good about themselves, not just physically but inside and out. |
Lockdown forced you to temporarily close your business, how have you coped with this emotionally and have you had to pivot your business model? | As I’m a trained intensive care nurse I have been quite busy over the lockdown period back on the front line. I have had to put my aesthetics business on the back burner like many others until it is safe to reopen. I also offer online skin care consultations to help people look after their skin during these challenging times. |

As a woman working in aesthetics you see first-hand how clients feel after their treatment. What is the most common reaction? | The reaction that I think most stands out to me is the increase in self confidence. Someone that has an aspect of themselves that they really dislike, walk out with newfound confidence and excitement. |
Cryostar® body shaping and contouring treatments are all about being body confident. Who is the definition of body confidence to you? | Being body confident is about loving your own body shape and owning it. I admire Kelly Brook for her natural beauty. She is a healthy size 12, and has lumps and bumps just like us all. What’s amazing about Kelly is that she understands that being body confident is about being mentally happy too. |
What advice would you give your 21 year old self? | I have always been quite driven but I would say at 21 I was a little bit lost. Looking back I would say find your passion and follow your dreams. I would also say you never lose anything by trying so give it a go!! |
At Cryostar® we work with many retailers and a lot of women across the country – the UK has seen our industry open and close over the last year, through it all we are proud of everyone who has managed to survive the turmoil and we can’t wait to see them all back in action in the near future. Bigger, better and brighter! #happyinternationalwomensday
